Staff Minister Kris Kuschel joined the St. Paul team in 2026 after serving as Minister to Family and Youth at St. Paul's in New Ulm, Minnesota. He graduated from Martin Luther College in 2017 with degrees in Staff Ministry and Elementary Education. Kris and his wife, Ashley, are blessed with five children. He enjoys helping children, youth, and families grow in their faith. In his free time, he likes watching football, tackling home improvement projects, and spending time outdoors with his family.

Pastor Jonah Backus joined St. Paul after graduating from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in 2026. He previously earned his bachelor's degree from Martin Luther College in 2021 and served his vicar year in Montana. Pastor Backus and his wife, Sara, have two young children, Elijah and Eden. He has a passion for sharing God's Word, serving families as they grow in their faith, and using music to enrich worship and ministry.

Pastor Mark Kahrs has served at St. Paul since 2023. Before coming to Tomah, he served two congregations in Minnesota after graduating from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in 2015. He earned his bachelor's degree from Martin Luther College in 2011 and completed his vicar year serving a congregation in Florida. Originally from Nebraska, Pastor Kahrs and his wife, Olivia, are blessed with two children, Emma and Peyton. In his free time, he enjoys playing games, watching sports, and spending time with his family. Pastor Kahrs is excited to help people grow in their faith and to serve the Tomah community with God’s love.
